CHURCHILL'S INSIGHT

When I was a young man, I read Winston Churchill’s History of the English-Speaking Peoples and his 5-book history of World War II. Recently, I decided to read his World War II history again. In doing so, I came across a few quotes which are worth passing on to you. Churchill wrote about the 1936 Civil War in Spain, “It is part of the Communist Doctrine laid down by Lenin himself, that Communists should aid all movements towards the left and help into office weak constitutional…governments. These they should undermine and from their falling hands, snatch absolute power and found the Marxist State.

“Many of the ordinary guarantees of civilized society have been already liquidated [in Spain]. Communist pestilence had reached a point where it could take political opponents in the streets or from their beds and kill them. Already, a large number of these assassinations have taken place in and around Madrid… Wholesale cold-blooded massacres of political opponents and the well-to-do, were perpetrated by the Communists who had seized power.”
