LEFT OR RIGHT
The left in this country likes to link conservatives and libertarians to fascism. They utter warnings about what happened in Nazi Germany happening in America. They also advance the argument that the Nazis were right wingers and foes of socialism. This, despite the fact the German fascists called themselves National Socialists. Conservative writers have often argued that the Nazis were socialists and had a kinship with the left more than the right.
In doing research for my website, neverforget.net, I recently read the book Hitler – Memoirs of a Confidant, a book about Otto Wagener. Hitler claimed Wagener was his closest confidant up until 1932. They parted ways because Wagener argued for a peaceful resolution with Russia and the other European countries. Wagener offers many quotes from Adolf Hitler including this, “It’s true that I am a socialist.”
