NOTHING CAN PREVENT DISASTER
Our nation is in the grip of a false doctrine. Socialism and interventionism have replaced capitalism as the dominant economic philosophy. Expect the worst because socialist initiatives always create a bigger problem than they set out to cure.
Every day in every way the government and the media are attacking capitalism and promoting socialism. The leftists have been successful in raising taxes on the rich, the stupidest measure imaginable and the most damaging to the economy. The rich provide the greatest amount of savings, investment capital and financing of new technologies. They are the foremost job creators because they have proven entrepreneurial foresight that leads to profits and improved living standards. The fact that we punish the most successful and reward the failures in our society, should forewarn anyone with a brain that this strategy promises ruin.
Karl Marx wrote, “There is only one way to kill capitalism – by taxes, taxes and more taxes.” The Marxists not only killed capitalism in China and Russia they killed 100 million people. We’ve seen the mess that socialism left in Russia when capitalism died. Nevertheless, our so-called intellectual leaders have sold the public on the idea that capitalism harms them.
In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries capitalism flourished because of low taxes, minimal regulation and sound money. Now we practice the dead opposite of what made us great. It’s the reason we are living through a series of economic crises. The more socialism the worse the results. The left controls the educational system, the media, Washington, New York and Hollywood. Free markets and capitalism are their sworn enemies. Sadly for all of us they seem to be winning.
The Austrian School economist Ludwig von Mises argued there is no middle road between capitalism and socialism. Little by little we are sliding further into socialism. As the socialist Norman Thomas pointed out, “The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened.”
Our reckless monetary policies, our runaway government spending, our excessive regulation and other market interventions are destroying capitalism. The end of capitalism means the end of western civilization. The anti-capitalist trend in America means the end of America. You will know the end is near when you see hyperinflation followed by depression followed by more government control. It’s all coming as sure as night follows day.
