Jim Cook

Every once in a while I switch the TV channel from Fox to CNBC to see what the liberals are saying.  After listening awhile I get a deep sense of hopelessness and foreboding for our country.  The most important thing for the left is giving money to people.  They are happy to see the growth of food stamps, disability payments, housing subsidies, free healthcare and all the other welfare benefits.  They utterly fail to see the damage it is doing to the recipients.  Whole cities that once flourished have deteriorated into rotting eyesores populated with shambling hulks of chemically dependent drones.  These people are no longer employable.  They have become incompetent and helpless and the liberals can’t see that it’s their doing.

We live in a so-called "tell it like it is" society. We are told nothing is sacred any more; in the movies, total nudity is in and you can do as you please. As a somewhat libertarian, I don't want the crooks getting "elected" to decide moral codes. I don't want Teddy Kennedy, as sick as he is, writing laws about what I can or can't do in my private affairs. He's been a lifelong expert in personal creativity. I've found over the years, the biggest crooks and the biggest hypocrites are legal ones both in government law and in church law.

So that now everything is tumbling out of the closet....why will not the tens of millions of underpaid corporate dupes gripe about the government employees stealing....because we allow it....up to 3 and 4 pensions off the back sweat of the taxpayer dogs? I could write a book on the people I know who are getting 3 and 4 retirement checks from various levels of government.

As Jim Cook says, no wonder the government---federal to local---is always "broke." It is a modern day con game--there is no bottom line. Let me give you an example I can prove if forced to. I know a man, in his 60's, getting four taxpayer checks every month. He worked the system well. First, he got a "disability" pension in the military for coming down with some common disease. He gets $1,300 a month for his "Army disability" and he has been collecting it since his 30s. Knowing the federal government is the greatest thief of all, he then got hired in the U.S. Postal Service. Of course, they are suckers for "veterans." Come on everyone...get out and wave the Flag. This guy knew where the easy money is.

Then, he picked up a job working in the County Sheriff's Office on weekends and part-time. He qualified for a pension after ten years. His monthly take? $750. In all of this, he talked a local hardware store owner to put him on "part time." He only worked a few days a month, but he paid into "Social Security." He gets $400 a month from that. Now, we are up to for monthly checks from the fool taxpayers.

Want to know the topper? His wife was doing the same thing. She told me how she did it and seemed proud of her smartness. She got a job in the county clerk's office. After 20 years, she "retired" and gets $2,230 a month. She then worked for ten years with the state government to come under another retirement system. She only worked part-time. Monthly check? $700. She also worked enough to get Social Security.

They almost brag to you how smart they were to get in on the taxpayers' teat. But where does this leave some small taxpayer working at the big box store or hopping around a local hardware store somewhere making little more than minimum wage. The last thing still in the closet is how government in many cases pays much better benefits than the lowly corporate puppet makes. I work at a college, and I am telling you great Flag Wavers out there, the ROTC program makes the person hopping around the big box store, the supermarket or the fast food place seem like a real "born again" fool.

You check this out---most of you never heard this before. Join the college ROTC program as you wave the Flag. Taxpayers soon won't have anything to flap in the breeze. Full college tuition, books, room and board, paid for by U.S. taxpayers. On top of that, a monthly free "stipend" check up to $1,000 a month in free cash. Some of you will not understand what I am saying---though you may when the dollar crashes down
to virtually nothing----THE BIGGEST THREAT TO OUR NATION ARE THE FLAG WAVERS, just as the greatest threat to religion are some of the most fervent BIBLE THUMPERS. There are huge hypocrites in both camps.

I knew several retired "military officers" who retired with fantastic life-long pensions that would make some small town bank presidents blush. They seemed to love everything Washington did, no matter which "party" was in power. They got on the system early and knew a gravy train when they saw it. This column is not long enough to go into the history of our limited government republic---at least that's how it started out---and how it has been taken over by Wall Street types, the clean finger nail clan and others. But it is no longer working for millions of people.

A great religious figure warned 2,000 years ago to "beware of false prophets." That also includes false patriots. Take away the many pensions on the back of taxpayers who can barely pay their own bills, and you will see they some travel on their stomachs all along, despite the hype and government propaganda.

Stop the taxpayer pensions of many of these super patriot birds and you will see how quickly they turn when the money is cut off by the taxpayers. One of the greatest dangers to our country are the millions of freeloaders in "government" and "military" service. As other empires before us, take away the "money" and a lot of people will evaporate and flag wavers will evaporate.
