Jim Cook

Every once in a while I switch the TV channel from Fox to CNBC to see what the liberals are saying.  After listening awhile I get a deep sense of hopelessness and foreboding for our country.  The most important thing for the left is giving money to people.  They are happy to see the growth of food stamps, disability payments, housing subsidies, free healthcare and all the other welfare benefits.  They utterly fail to see the damage it is doing to the recipients.  Whole cities that once flourished have deteriorated into rotting eyesores populated with shambling hulks of chemically dependent drones.  These people are no longer employable.  They have become incompetent and helpless and the liberals can’t see that it’s their doing.

The many of us who for years took insults, barbs and even good natured kidding for what we saw coming, have another problem.
What we saw coming is now confronting all of us, even if some on the Wall-Street owned TV networks and some in government are still in denial.
 Here is the problem.
It was hard enough for the likes of Jim Cook, Barry Goldwater, Jerome Smith, Ron Paul, Pat Buchanan, R.C. Hoiles, Robert LeFevre and other fiscal conservatives to take the ridicule they did.  Some of the above have passed on to a better reward, hopefully.
And just because some of us are fiscal conservatives when it comes to government doesn't mean we all agree on all the other issues.
I know some people who see eye to eye with me on honest money issues, but some of us have differ on social issues. I have friends who believe eventually we are going back to gold and silver as money, and in fact, if you look at how the metals are faring much better that the world's paper funny money, you already see who won.
So I am not implying that every hard money advocate in recent years agreed on everything.  But what we did agree on was very important and is now in the daily headlines and it is leading the nightly TV newscasts.
It took a lot of courage to ring a warning bell when it appeared for even decades that Washington could just have the Federal Reserve Bank owners print up more paper "funny money" and we could finance any foreign war or domestic welfare scheme that anyone wanted.
It was like a magic money could even make it go faster, and it seemed to work.  The Federal Reserve Bank, was for a long time, the closest thing we could ever find to a money tree.  Or so, it seemed. Tens of millions, maybe hundreds of millions, actually believed we could create real wealth by printing paper coupons with the images of dead presidents on them.

Now, here's the problem those of us who accurately predicted this mess now have.
It took us many decades to get people to finally see there really was a problem with Washington's over-spending and over-promising.
Hopefully, it won't take that long to convince the public that those who knew why we would have this economic disaster know how to get out of it.  And it's going to take a lot of time.
We saw WHY this economic collapse we are witnessing would happen.  We knew the ingredients that would cause it.
A reader said to me, "Well, what would you do to get out of this huge mess."  My answer, "Quit doing what has not worked and is still not working."
President Obama's answer seems to be to raise the taxes on those still producing something. It is said, "If you want less of something, put a tax on it."
It may sound simplistic, but if the politicians decreed, "Put a big tax on every house yellow," you would see a big decline in homes painted yellow.  Almost no one would select yellow as the color for their home.

We are in a financial meltdown.
We have been addicted to debt and cheap, easy printing press and computer digital money from the Federal Reserve Bank.
The Federal Reserve Bank, which is not government owned, bears much of the responsibility for this mess, in my view.
It was always willing to accommodate any of our serial wars, any of our "entitlement" programs, any of our counterproductive social schemes and any foreign aid foolishness that just about anyone in Congress wanted.
Some people actually thought all of this was FREE of charge.  Why would you expect anyone who felt there was no problem suddenly have the knowledge to solve the problem once it suddenly hit them in the face. What they see are the RESULTS, not the causes.
I would take an axe to about anything having to do with federal spending, and that means end double and triple dipping---one federal check is all you get---you can even pick which one you want to keep.  I would end the foolish wars that we were lied into that are now costing in the trillions of dollars.  No wonder we are broke.
Even some of my so-called "conservative friends" are flaming spending liberals when it comes to "Don't touch defense."  Look up the definition of "defense."  War is a government program, too and we've sure had a lot of them, some with no names.
And yes, we are broke.  One of the Wall-Street shills on one of the TV network shows said "We are not broke, we just owe a lot of money."  Who is going to loan the U.S. all of the "money" needed to fund the "deficits" in the trillions of dollars over the next few years?  You got it, the money will be printed, so to speak.
Can  you imagine the cost of food in the next five years, or the cost of gasoline?
I know in my city, there is quite a large group of people who believe in punishment, prison, even the death penalty for punks selling drugs or prison and death for local pedophiles.
But what post do we have that we can hold our government leaders to?  Is there any trial, prison time or other punishment for national leaders that have destroyed our economy, the financial future of our families and even the future for many children?
Why do many people agree we should put drug dealers or pedophiles in prison, but politicians who destroy our manufacturing and economy  (remember, "Read my lips, no new taxes or politicians who lie us into wars with false evidence are not held to account the way we would a street thief?"
No, we take these people in Washington who have lied to us, twisted and turned the truth, and they retire as royalty, on the backs of taxpayers the rest of their lives.
In may jurisdictions, as where I live in Florida, it is a felony to lie to a law enforcement officer. But our hired hands in Washington or Tallahassee may lie to us any day of the week and we have no real resources in the law.
Our old buddy in Egypt who did our bidding the other day was in court in a cage, fighting for his life.  We haven't seen that type of "accountability" with our own leaders, but the day may come if this thing completely falls off the shelf.  All bets will be off and I'll hate to see what could happen.
How many former "friends" of the U.S. government have we turned on over the years, even to the point of seeing them put on trial or eliminated?  There's a whole list of our dupes are are no longer with us.
It is said we can "just vote them out," and as was the case in Washington recently, these scoundrels take millions of dollars in retirement and other benefits with them as they go out the door.
Just as most of us think we will never witness many things now happening in the streets in foreign nations happen here, many of those who have given us this economic and political mess had better hope that, too.
People who are desperate will do desperate things, elsewhere, or here.  I am not advocating this, but it could happen if we are not careful.
We saw in just one local area, New Orleans, how out of control people can get when events get out of control.
We are about to go down a road we have never been down before. Let's pray for our nation, even if we may not deserve it.  We were warned aplenty this day would come and it is now here. This is an historic moment.
