When you buy gold and silver bullion, which I have touted vigorously over the years, you are buying insurance. You are insuring against the possibility that even if the banks don’t go broke (105 have failed this year), the money is going broke. There is a distinct possibility that some day the dollar will be trash. It won’t even be good for toilet paper because paper money won’t even absorb water.
The day might come when the only value you can trust will be your gold and silver coins. As well as we have done so far, don’t concentrate on holding stocks in any one category. There is a chance that the stock market may stop functioning in the future, in which case you will appreciate having your gold and silver in hand.
You can buy stocks in each category, but there is a chance the market will become illiquid. When? The cross between an elephant and a rhino – elefino. I don’t think it is imminent, but stocks which are related to those commodities have done very well in the past and will probably continue to do well in the immediate future. But the basis of your portofolio should be gold and silver bullion or coins. |
